Golden’s Lowertown, Saint Paul, MN, 7 September 2017—Twenty years since opening a permanent Lowertown deli location on Wall Street, between 4th and 5th streets, Golden’s is closing its restaurant doors to return to doing what we do best—selling fresh bagels made with ingredients from local farms! While Golden’s restaurant is closed permanently as of today, Golden’s Market Bagel Stand can be found at the top end of the middle green shed in the summer Saint Paul Farmers’ Market every weekend. Come visit us for a bagel and coffee every Saturday morning from 7am-1pm and every Sunday morning from 8am-1pm! Golden’s former location, in the Northwestern Building at 275 E. 4th Street, will see a new restaurant open later this Fall. Lowertown neighbor and Union Depot resident Kari Richtsmeier will debut Biergarten Germania, featuring cuisines from the historic region of Germania, offering a variety of dishes from Germany, Switzerland, France, and the Netherlands.

Golden’s sandwiches could be compared only with the best lunch fair of St. Paul. It’s located on the ground floor of a notable historic building, downtown. You’ll be interested to learn that this is a “green” restaurant, with low-no-waste. All the sandwich ingredients are from local distributors. Most sandwiches are prepared on a divine focaccia bread (plain or rosemary). Choose the roast turkey, with Swiss cheese, cranberry relish and all of the trimmings. The vegan selection is made with sweet roasted peppers, cream cheese, cucumbers, tomatoes and red onions. Pick any sandwich and put it in a bio-box. Bio-box A includes gourmet potato chips, home-baked chocolate chip cookie and a mint. Bio-box B adds pasta salad and an apple to Bio-box A. If you prefer, you can order the newest healthy choice, which includes spring water and fresh mixed fruit.
