About the Performers: Sendero Flamenco
Sendero Flamenco – Tara Weatherly and Michael Ziegahn founded the performance group, Sendero Flamenco, in 2004. Studio Sendero, the physical rehearsal and class studio space, was created in 2010. After moving Studio Sendero to the Lowertown neighborhood of St. Paul in 2011, Tara has found many opportunities to collaborate with artists of all types. Stretching the boundaries of the traditional art form in collaborative performance works and creating unique choreographies using familiar flamenco techniques strikes a wonderful balance.
About the Performers: Kala Vandanam
Kala Vandanam – Suchitra Sairam founded Kala Vandanam in 2002, with the vision of sharing the beauty and depth of Bharatanatyam, the oldest and most widely performed classical dance tradition of India, through education, outreach and performance. Kala Vandanam carries on the classic works of great masters, and creates new and contemporary interpretations within the framework of the tradition. Kala Vandanam looks to expand creativity within the framework of this exquisite dance form, retaining its traditional roots while contributing to its evolution as a “living” performance art.
